A Steelers Fashion Show

I can't even begin to tell you how excited Emma, Kevin and I are about the Superbowl on Sunday. We are really hoping that the Steelers can pull this off. Each day this week, Emma wore a different Steelers outfit to school. She was so excited each morning to see what the outfit would be. And for those wondering yes, our little 4 year old has enough Steelers shirts to get her through a week, just like her Dad although, he has enough for a month.

As for Sunday, Kevin wants to watch the game at home. I asked if he wanted to invite some friends over and before I could get the words out, he said no. You see, Kevin does not like interruptions when it comes to the Steelers. Don't get me wrong, we have fun watching the game but he doesn't like the big party when it's his team. So, we will be sitting around the TV at game time hoping to root the Steelers to ring number six, eating dip, munching on chips and enjoying Kabasi sandwiches. I honestly can't think of a better party than the three of us.

The Superbowl also brings back a lot of memories of 2/6/06. The day that Emma was placed in our arms. You see, it's also the day that the Steelers won Superbowl XL. When the Superbowl aired here in the US, it was only 730am in China. Kevin woke up very early that day, went down for breakfast, came back up with breakfast for me while I got ready and watched the first half in China. We had to go to the conference room to receive the babies at 930am and by the time we went back to the room, the game was over. There was a message on the phone from my cousin. The only thing it said is "The Steelers are Number One". Kevin knew then that he received two trophies that day. (PS..the phone call cost my cousin $27.00). I'll post those pictures on Gotcha Day.

So, as another "Gotcha Day" fast approaches, we also hope to celebrate another Steeler's Superbowl win.

I hope my next post will be ....The Steelers Won!!!!!!!

Flamingo Feeding

All good things have to come to an end. The artic blast that has hit the Northeast of the country has moved South. Yesterday's high in Sarasota was 65 and today's high was 60. I know, I know, it's still warmer than PA but, it's not great pool weather. Emma and I are both sick but still having a great time with my parents.

Yesterday we visited "Jungle Gardens of Sarasota". About 95% of the animals there are from pet owners that just couldn't care for their pets any longer. They mainly have exotic birds, turtles, spiders and snakes. Some birds can live up to 85 years old. Something I never knew. While at the Gardens, Emma petted a Crocodile, held a bird on her arm and participated in a bird show.

The best part of the day by far was feeding the flamingo's. We were following this path and came across a small pond and it was filled with flamingos, pelicans, ducks and herons. The only other time I can remember seeing flamingo's was in Busch Gardens and they had them fenced off. Here, they walked right up to you. One even pecked at Emma's head.

Here are a few pictures from yesterday. Tomorrow, we may visit Mote Aquarium and make one more trip to the pool. I'll try to post pictures again over the weekend if not, I'll talk to you all next week.

Fun in the Sun at Sun N' Fun

This is the 3rd year that Emma and I have visited my parents in Sarasota, FL. They are snowbirds from Massachusetts. The first year, it was just Emma and I, she had just turned two and I was a nervous wreck traveling alone with her but everything worked out great. Last year, it was Kevin, Emma and I and this year, it's back to Emma and I. Kevin couldn't get away this year and we sure do miss him a lot!!!
This year, my two sisters, Lisa and Kimberly and Lisa's girlfriend Suzanne came also. They flew in on the previous Thursday and left Monday night. Emma and I flew in 2 days later and are staying for the week. I had a great time with my sisters and adopted sister Suzanne. Lisa and Suzanne have been best friends for about 23 years. She's like a fourth daughter to my parents.
As soon as Emma and I arrived on Saturday, we went straight for the pool. There we found the family enjoying the day. It was about 85 degrees without a cloud in the sky.
Saturday evening, my mom and dad watched Emma while "the girls" went to the poolside bar. We had a great time just drinking, catching up and enjoying the surroundings. It didn't take long before my dad joined in on the fun and boy did we have fun.
Here's Emma, ready to go in the kiddie pool.

A little fun at the bar

And this is the sweet angel that awaited me when we got home from our night out
